BCIS Guide to Estimating for Small Works Price Book 2023 - 29th edition
Created specifically for busy builders and smaller building companies, this price book makes pricing projects up to a value of around £150,000 quick and easy. It includes more than 250 fully priced standard estimates for the most common type and style of small-scale building works.
Aimed at smaller building companies, typically with less than 20 employees and with some trades sub-contracted out, this price book is ideal for quickly pricing a range of jobs on projects with a total value of up to around £150,000.
It includes a comprehensive selection of fully priced standard estimates for the most common type, style and size of building extensions, with the total cost of each section or element clearly shown. It also provides a separate detailed price build-up for each section or element included in the standard estimates, showing how the cost of the foundations, walls, roof, etc., have been calculated.
Drawings and specifications, together with essential pricing information including labour hourly rates, gang rates, plant hire rates and basic material costs, are included. In addition, measured rates are given for alteration works and external works including paving and drainage.
The pricing information is completed with a fully detailed estimate for a roof space conversion. An important feature of this book is that in addition to providing prices and estimates, it explains in a clear and straightforward manner how to adjust the standard estimates to suit particular projects.
What’s Included?
Among the more than 3,500 rates, incorporating more than 4,300 resources, used across the standard estimates and unit build-ups, new items for this edition include a range of additional rates in the external works section.
In calculating the hours required for each separate operation and in seeking prices for materials, contracts of alterations and extensions to an existing house, of up to two storeys, with a tender price up to £150,000 have been assumed.
Prices are based on national averages and guidance is included on including regional factors. Material supply prices and plant hire charges are current at 1Q2023. Labour rates use the latest wage agreements from BATJIC and JIB-PMES as at 2Q2022.
